Cashier - Cosentino's Price Chopper #415 - 2600 Ensign Dr

About the Role

This non-exempt position assists customers by processing sales transactions efficiently, courteously, and accurately. The role reports to the Office Manager.

Responsibilities

• Accurately receive and process payment for purchases via cash, check, gift cards, credit/debit cards, coupons, or other approved methods, including government assistance programs.
• Issue customer receipts and change due.
• Identify products by PLUs, scale, and/or produce number.
• Operate electronic cash registers, scanners, check verification equipment, and overhead intercom system.
• Utilize proper bagging and cashiering techniques to minimize product damage, maximize efficiency, and reduce shrink.
• Maintain a clean and professional front-end appearance.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally; escalate to management when appropriate.
• Implement Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
• Comply with all health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures; encourage team members to do the same.
• Answer customer questions accurately and courteously regarding store items, procedures, and policies.
• Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards for individual and team results.
• Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, and basic math skills required for the position.
• Comply with all governmental regulations regarding weights and measures, alcohol/tobacco sales, and government food assistance programs.

Non-essential functions may include training new cashiers, promoting additional products/services, returning unwanted items to shelves, and assisting other departments as needed.

Requirements

• Obtain a valid liquor license prior to the first day on the job (if applicable).
• Complete ongoing training and development as outlined in the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Skills

• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions.
• Basic math and reading skills required for the position.

Physical Abilities

• Reach overhead with both arms, twist at the waist, and lift objects up to 10 lbs.
• Push and pull grocery items and carts with a peak force of 25 lbs.
• Stand and walk for long periods on hard surfaces (tile, asphalt, concrete).
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 30 lbs. to a height of 36 inches.
• Bend and squat, at times to floor level.
• Non-essential: climb a ladder up to 5 ft.
