Responsibilities
- Assists cook in preparing desserts or snacks for patients
- Assists cook in preparation of meals
- Carries trays to patients on halls
- Cleans tables in the dining area after each meal
- Helps with salads, desserts, and other dishes
- Assists with pouring juice, milk, water, and tea
- Serves patients beverages and meals in the dining area
- Prepares between-meal nourishments (e.g., sandwiches)
- Cleans work area at the end of shift and after meals, including sweeping and mopping
- Removes garbage from kitchen areas and hoses out garbage containers
- Complies with infection control policies in the work area
- Scrapes, washes, and sanitizes dishes, pots, and pans
- Records freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures per established procedures
- Checks and restocks inventory as needed
- Stores stock and cleaning materials appropriately
- Sets up and performs tray line service
- Follows diet orders and NPO diet orders
- Offers and records menu substitutions per procedural guidelines
- Properly stores leftovers and opened food
- Serves nourishments per procedural guidelines
- Makes coffee and tea as requested
- Follows procedures for serving associate meals
- Cleans kitchen equipment (e.g., carts, tables, counters, ice machine, blender, mixer, meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, stove, oven, steamer, garbage disposal, dish machine, coffee/tea maker, steam table)
- Operates dish machine, garbage disposal, mixer, blender, meat slicer, steamer, coffee maker, and tea maker
- Follows standardized recipes
- Uses serving equipment (ladle, spoon, scoops, etc.)
- Checks and records water temperature (dishwasher, pot and pan sink, etc.)
- Checks dishwasher sanitizer levels with test strips
- Checks and replaces chemical levels as needed
- Promotes the image and reputation of the System through servant leadership and open communication
- Contributes to committees, workgroups, and collaborative efforts
- Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals)
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates
- Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals)
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram format
- Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
