Food Service Aide

About the role

The Food Service Aide performs a variety of tasks related to the preparation, assembly, distribution, pick-up and clean-up of patient and visitor meal trays. Responsibilities include serving attractive, well-garnished, and well-organized trays with accuracy and speed, maintaining proper food temperatures, and disassembling and cleaning the tray line.

• Maintain proper food temperatures consistently.
• Disassemble and clean tray line.

Requirements

• Educational Requirements: High school or equivalent required. Knowledge of proper body mechanics desirable.
• Experience Requirements: Previous food service experience helpful; Hospital/health care setting preferred.
• Physical Requirements: Work involves considerable standing and walking in and about the department; some lifting, stooping, bending as required; must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines; must be able to understand and follow instructions; may be required to work evenings/weekends/holidays to meet staffing needs; must have home telephone; exposure to hot plates and possible wet floors.

Qualifications

• Must have the ability to read, write, and follow instructions both verbally and written.
• Knowledge of and skills to operate kitchen equipment and the effective use of cleaning agents.
• Knowledge of customer relations desirable.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, particularly in the event of a fire.
• Knowledge of Health Department Standards required.
