About the role
As a Food Server at Child Start, you will prepare and store food items for nourishing snacks and meals for children at the centers, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and ensure compliance with Health Department and CACFP guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and document hot and cold food at recommended temperatures.
- Ensure food is properly stored and labeled.
- Clean dishes and kitchen while maintaining health and sanitation requirements.
- Establish and follow a plan for thorough periodic cleaning of cabinets, ovens, refrigerators, and other equipment.
- Keep accurate records of food delivered, menus of meals and snacks served daily, and quantities served.
- Adjust menus or prepare special meals to meet dietary needs, as directed by the EC Manager in coordination with the Nutrition Coordinator.
- Maintain confidentiality of children’s information.
- Divide food in appropriate amounts for each class and deliver to classrooms with serving utensils and tableware.
- Make recommendations to the EC Manager regarding appropriate food quantities.
- Note discrepancies in food delivered by the caterer and report them to the Nutrition Coordinator.
- Inventory and request supplies as needed.
- Requisition supplies and assist with necessary preparation for children’s activities.
- Suggest possible activities involving food.
- Post changes to menus so families are aware of food substitutions.
- Assist with Family Activity events.
- Regular attendance is essential for this position.
Requirements
- Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or sponsorship.
- Must provide proof of measles (MMR) vaccination or documented immunity during the employment process (per KDHE requirements).
- Must be able to commute daily to Wichita, KS.
