About the role
This position is responsible for assisting in the product development process across a diverse set of categories, utilizing our ingredient portfolio to solve for customer interests and challenges.
Responsibilities
- Document processes, formulas, ingredients, and results related to production tests, samples and product evaluations consistent with Ajinomoto standard operating procedures.
- Enter raw materials into PLM database system (or other formula management database system).
- Perform all work in accordance with Ajinomoto GMP, Allergen, and Quality Programs and participate in annual training for these programs.
- Mentor and onboard more junior-level employees.
- Apply technical expertise in food science to ideate and develop product/concepts/prototypes that solve for customer issues within the context of our portfolio of ingredient solutions.
- Conduct sensory evaluations of new products in collaboration with the sensory department.
- Participate on sensory panels helping other technical personnel with their work.
- Conduct and participate in shelf-life studies for Ajinomoto products following established shelf-life protocols.
- Write standard operating protocols for analytical methods and use of technical equipment.
- Manage and advance short-term, 2-4 week projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BS in Food Science, Foods and Nutrition, or a related field of study.
- Experience in food, with an added focus on soups & broths.
- Product development a plus.
Skills
- Strong math and science-related technical skills.
- Transfer scientific knowledge to practical applications.
- Must be safety oriented.
