Food Scientist

About the role

This position is responsible for assisting in the product development process across a diverse set of categories, utilizing our ingredient portfolio to solve for customer interests and challenges.

Responsibilities

• Document processes, formulas, ingredients, and results related to production tests, samples and product evaluations consistent with Ajinomoto standard operating procedures.
• Enter raw materials into PLM database system (or other formula management database system).
• Perform all work in accordance with Ajinomoto GMP, Allergen, and Quality Programs and participate in annual training for these programs.
• Mentor and onboard more junior-level employees.
• Apply technical expertise in food science to ideate and develop product/concepts/prototypes that solve for customer issues within the context of our portfolio of ingredient solutions.
• Conduct sensory evaluations of new products in collaboration with the sensory department.
• Participate on sensory panels helping other technical personnel with their work.
• Conduct and participate in shelf-life studies for Ajinomoto products following established shelf-life protocols.
• Write standard operating protocols for analytical methods and use of technical equipment.
• Manage and advance short-term, 2-4 week projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• BS in Food Science, Foods and Nutrition, or a related field of study.
• Experience in food, with an added focus on soups & broths.
• Product development a plus.

Skills

• Strong math and science-related technical skills.
• Transfer scientific knowledge to practical applications.
• Must be safety oriented.

$97K - $101K + Bonus
