Food Safety Quality and Regulatory Associate (rotating shifts)

JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT

The Food Safety Quality and Regulatory Associate will ensure internal collaboration and connectivity for all policies, standards and trainings. In this role, you will partner with contacts to assist with compliance and customer specification issues. You will also work closely with the location to coordinate and plan programs that fall under food safety, quality and regulatory areas. The purpose of this position is to develop and train individuals to prepare them to take on roles of increased complexity across the Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR) job family at various locations across Cargill.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform inspection of finished or in process goods, analyze data and identify trends in defects or errors.
• Conduct root cause analysis for defects, nonconformities or other quality failures.
• Cook up coordination department functions that include continuous improvement processes, compliance to audits and assisting with customer specifications and quality issues.
• Provide back-up assistance for Quality technicians, FSQR Supervisors and Food Safety Specialist. Complete pre-shipment review and product clearances as needed. Effectively communicate FSQR and Micro results, including timely reporting of all quality assurance activities.
• Aid in related training development and scheduling.
• Provide training, coaching and mentoring to team members.
• Plan, coordinate and direct all regulatory compliance, laboratory, food and feed safety and quality programs within the location to ensure compliance with customer, supplier and government requirements and expectations.
• Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• PREFERRED: Basic food safety knowledge with specific emphasis on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), labeling, food additives, sanitation, and food microbiology
• SAP experience
• Moderate computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and database navigation)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail
• Validated change management in an industrial setting
• Experience in leading cross functional teams
