About the role

We are hiring a Part-Time Food Prep Attendant for The Club lounge located in the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The work includes preparing food for the lounge and maintaining a clean, healthy environment for customers. The role involves standard food service tasks, sanitation duties, and various serving responsibilities. Knowledge of proper food handling procedures and government food code regulations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, portions, cuts, or peels various foods to prepare for cooking or serving.
  • Prepares a variety of foods according to customers' orders or instructions of a superior, following approved procedures.
  • Portions and arranges food on serving dishes, trays, carts, or conveyor belts.
  • Cleans, cuts, slices, or disjoints meats and poultry to prepare for cooking.
  • Prepares and serves beverages such as coffee, tea, and soft drinks.
  • Carries food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
  • Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage, following the FIFO (first in, first out) method.
  • Sets up and restocks the buffet area.
  • Assists with inventory counts.
  • Cleans and maintains work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Requisitions, stores, and distributes food supplies, equipment, and utensils.
  • Dates and labels prepared food.
  • Completes food safety logs.
  • Washes dishes.
  • Assists with cleaning tasks throughout the lounge.
  • Removes trash throughout the lounge, taking it to designated disposal areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass an airport authority security background check.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Related background in customer service or restaurant/bar service.
  • Must be at least 18 or 21 years of age as applicable by law.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and possess verbal communication skills necessary to interact with customers, passengers, and co-workers.
  • Able to work rotating shifts including weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), holidays, and days off.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to cooperate with peers, customers, and supervisors of diverse backgrounds who may hold divergent views.
  • Pass and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications, including local health department food handler certification.
  • Must be able to stand during the entire scheduled shift.
  • Ability to handle the stress of a fast-paced work shift up to ten (10) hours.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic documents and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group settings to passengers, customers, and other team members.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers and make change during cash transactions on a Point-of-Sale machine.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to bend, climb, crouch, hear, kneel, reach, speak, stand, turn, twist, and walk.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds, 40 inches high without assistance.
  • Must be able to push and/or pull 120 pounds with the assistance of a wheeled cart.
  • Ability to perform tasks safely according to established procedures to prevent personal injury, injury to others, and damage to the environment, facilities, and equipment.
  • Ability to follow all lawful safety, health, and liquor rules and regulations.
  • Personal appearance and grooming must present a favorable corporate and customer image.
  • Must pass and obtain security background check and clearance to work in an airport environment.
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.

Pay

$17.00 per hour
