About the role

Join Newrest, a global leader in in-flight catering, as a Production Manager. You will coordinate and oversee the food production process to ensure it meets our exceptional standards. This managerial position will keep you busy in the kitchen, guiding a team in preparing and packaging cold dishes, salads, sandwiches, desserts, and other high-quality food products that will be distributed worldwide.

Responsibilities

Supervisory and Management

  • Supervise and manage the work of all the employees in all areas of the department
  • Motivate and inspire team members to perform above expectations through proper recognition methods and programs
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed per Newrest and client's requirements
  • Communicate effectively with all crew members and team members
  • Hold team members accountable for all expectations

Operations/Logistics

  • Ensure that all meal orders are filled accurately, promptly, and with high quality according to the datasheets and clients' requirements
  • Ensure that processes are as efficient as possible
  • Empower team members to identify and resolve operational issues
  • Bring up to management's attention any concerns and recommendations for such concerns
  • Ensure proper communication with the supply department of any stock item needs
  • Foresee needs or problems that may arise and have action plans in place to avoid production disruptions
  • Clearly and confidently communicate with client representatives as needed
  • Fill in as needed to maintain the flow of operations

Quality and Safety

  • Ensure that all processes conform to the customer and Newrest specifications
  • Comply at all times with good hygiene and manufacturing practices (e.g., hazard analysis and critical control points [HACCP], FIFO)
  • Carry out cleaning, washing, and sanitation of premises by cleaning plan
  • Investigate and complete incidents/accidents documentation
  • Enforce safety processes and legal requirements for all processes

Administrative Tasks

  • Interview and determine the individuals to join your department
  • Approve time off requests and other leaves of absence
  • Perform performance reviews for all department team members
  • Approve all timecards and resolve timecard discrepancies
  • Mentor and coach team members and provide corrective actions as required
  • Regular and timely attendance is expected for the position
  • Other job duties may be assigned based on operational need

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Operations, Management, Business Management, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in the manufacturing or food industry, including in a Kitchen Manager role, managing 100+ hourly employees
  • Strong preference is given to someone with experience in a start-up or turnaround environment
  • Strong leadership skills, especially in holding others accountable and creating/maintaining an organized and engaged team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Good understanding of supply chain and warehouse
  • Detail-orientated with the ability to see the big picture

  • Must stand, walk, talk, listen regularly, and use your hands to handle or feel

  • Work environment in a Kitchen, with temperatures ranging from room temperature to very cold
  • Noise levels varying from moderate to very loud
