Paid Time Off

Job Duties
- Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
- Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
- Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with fork to determine that it is cooked.
- Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders.
- Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use.
- Bakes bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry and any task assigned to you by your master cook, sous chef and room chef and or restaurant manager.
- Follows PPE and safety guidance designed to safeguard you, your fellow team members, and guests.
Qualifications
- 3 months experience in the culinary field.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
- Attend our West Virginia Food Handlers Class and pass certification.
Physical Demands
- Absolutely required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
- Occasionally required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds and frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock.
- Necessary to occasionally lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
