About the role
The role of a Food & Beverage Team Leader at Target involves leading a team to ensure a consistent and fresh experience for guests, managing daily and weekly workloads to meet sales goals, and maintaining a food-safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver guest experience commitments and ensure consistent operations.
- Observe and provide feedback to team members, holding them accountable while recognizing great moments.
- Review and analyze area metrics to identify opportunities and drive results.
- Plan and execute daily/weekly workload to support Food & Beverage priorities and sales goals.
- Lead a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, training, coaching, evaluating, retaining, and developing talent.
- Assess backroom and sales floor areas, ensuring they are fresh, full, and food safe.
- Assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Validate and follow up on team members' progress, ensuring they meet assigned workload tasks, production area routines, and best practices.
- Lead team huddles to communicate focuses and trends, leveraging store reporting and HQ communications.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with vendors to ensure clear expectations are met and areas are reliably in-stock.
- Place store-initiated orders according to best practices, and support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU), and Drive-up (DU).
- Support the hiring and onboarding process of new team members, and participate in team hiring and onboarding processes.
- Ensure product availability by supporting merchandise protection strategies and merchandise ordering.
- Model and recognize safe behaviors, assist with incident response, and report/investigate injuries.
- Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store, including ordering, storage, and application as directed by best practices.
- Support the Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut Brand Standards, fostering a productive partnership with your Starbucks district manager.
- Address store emergency and compliance requirements, and occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous retail and/or food experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of remaining focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplishing multiple tasks within established timeframes.
- A welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
- Effective communication skills.

Skills
- Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first and freshness culture on your team.
- Food & Beverage business fundamentals, including department sales trends, freshness, food safety and quality, inventory management, item reliability, guest shopping patterns, and pricing and promotions strategies.
- Planning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support Food & Beverage priorities and deliver sales goals.
- Leading a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, training, coaching, evaluating, retaining, and developing talent.
- Understanding and interpreting instructions, reports, and information.
- Accurately handling cash register operations as needed.
- Climbing up and down ladders if needed.
- Scanning, handling, and moving merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.
- Working in environments that will include refrigeration and freezer temperatures and conditions; where common allergens may also be handled or present.
- Remaining mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
