About the role
The Food & Beverage team enables a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product is fresh, in stock, available, and accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. They are experts in operations, process, and efficiency, leading food and food services including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all Food & Beverage areas of the store.
This role helps build and develop skills for a career, including:
- Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first and freshness culture in Food & Beverage
- Food & Beverage business fundamentals, including sales trends, inventory, quality and freshness management, and guest shopping patterns
- Understanding food seasonality, freshness and quality, food safety standards and routines, and merchandising
- Working with a dynamic and fast-paced team focused on the guest experience, executing Food & Beverage Standards and best practices
Responsibilities
- Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by:
- Greeting guests at 10ft (smile, make eye contact, or wave) and 4ft (initiate a warm, helpful interaction)
- Helping guests find what they need and resolving issues for a smooth shopping experience
- Ending every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
- Support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
- Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
- Provide an exceptional guest experience by ensuring a fresh and full shopping experience during all hours of operation, prioritizing guest needs over tasks
- Uphold and maintain the execution of Food & Beverage Standards
- Execute Food & Beverage processes, including:
- Food deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, in-stock routines, and data accuracy
- Culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, organizing, and storing reserve product
- Follow all food safety requirements as outlined in Target’s policies and procedures
- Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales
- Work with vendors to set, maintain, and update sales floor merchandise displays and organize backroom space
- Locate and identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to Target’s policies
- Execute all federal, state, and local adult beverage laws as they apply to the business
- Appropriately use and care for in-store and personal protective equipment; follow equipment control guidelines
- Maintain a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
- Work safely at all times, comply with safety policies, report hazards, and correct them where possible
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick-up (OPU), and Drive-up (DU) while maintaining compliance with laws
- Perform all other duties based on business needs
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older (Bakery Only)
- Previous food or grocery experience preferred, but not required
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment
- Work both independently and with a team
- Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
- Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information
- Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
- Climb up and down ladders if needed
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays); come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts, and take required meal and rest breaks
- Work in environments that include refrigeration and freezer temperatures and conditions, where common allergens may be handled or present
- Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing job duties
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts (shift length may vary)
