About the role
The role of a Food & Beverage Expert at Target provides you with the skills and experiences necessary to build and develop your career. This includes:
- Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first and freshness culture in Food & Beverage
- Food & Beverage business fundamentals, including sales trends, inventory, quality and freshness management, and guest shopping patterns
- Understanding food seasonality, freshness and quality, food safety standards and routines, and merchandising
- Working with a dynamic and fast-paced team focused on the guest experience and routinely executing the Food & Beverage Standards and best practices through individual Assignment Sheets and task execution.
Responsibilities
- Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:
- Greet:
- 10ft: be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave
- 4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction
- Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience
- End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
- Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
- Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience, providing a fresh and full shopping experience during all hours of operations, prioritizing the guest’s needs over task.
- Uphold and maintain the execution of the Food & Beverage Standards.
- Execute Food & Beverage processes including food deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, in-stocks routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing and organizing and storing reserve product.
- Follow all food safety requirements as outlined in Target’s policies and procedures.
- Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales.
- Work with vendors to proactively set, maintain and make planned changes to salesfloor merchandise displays and to keep organized backroom space.
- Locate and identify damaged, recalled or expired items and process according to Target’s policies and procedures.
- Execute all federal, state and local adult beverage laws as they apply to your business.
- Appropriately use and care for in-store and personal protective equipment; follow equipment control guidelines.
- Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
- Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive-up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older (Bakery Only)
- Previous food or grocery experience preferred, but not required
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
- Work both independently and with a team
- Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
- Attention to detail and follow multi-step processes
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
Qualifications
- Must be able to access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
- Must be able to interpret instructions, reports and information.
- Must be able to accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
- Must be able to climb up and down ladders if needed.
- Must be able to scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.
- Must be able to work in environments that will include refrigeration and freezer temperatures and conditions; where common allergens may also be handled or present.
- Must be able to work in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties, including but not limited to Drive-Ups, carryout, etc.
- Must be able to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shifts (shift length may vary).
Skills
