Food and Nutrition Staff I - Cafeteria

About the Role

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in the kitchen and/or dining room, including preparing food items, setting up and delivering food carts or trays, serving residents, portioning food, cleaning dishes and equipment, and maintaining sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and other related criteria appropriate to the assigned population.
• Maintains required core competencies and complies with set policies and procedures (e.g., name tag, dress code, parking, smoking).
• Acts with integrity, honesty, and promotes the culture, values, and mission of the organization.
• Contributes to a positive team environment by recognizing changes in morale or performance and communicating them to management.
• Maintains a friendly, efficient, and positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers.
• Completes all daily cleaning assignments conscientiously.
• Adheres to all sanitation procedures and established systems to provide a safe environment, complying with OSHA and other regulations.
• Maintains compliance with organizational standards of operation and business conduct policy.
• Performs cleaning activities such as scraping, washing, rinsing, sanitizing, and storing pots, pans, utensils, and equipment.
• Sweeps, mops, and scrubs department floors, and cleans ice machines.
• Sets up and maintains assigned work areas in a neat, clean, and orderly manner to ensure food safety.
• Provides additional services to enhance customer service.
• Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patient/resident population.
• Delivers food carts to patient units requiring nursing staff to deliver trays.
• Gathers and removes trash for the entire department to the trash compactor.
• Removes and sets up cafeteria and Doctor’s Dining Room tables and chairs for carpet cleaning and special catered events.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current American Heart – Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
• Food Handler certification from an ANSI-accredited organization (must obtain within 30 days of employment).

Schedule

Full-time, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day.
