This position is located at Bowling, part of Fort Benning Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). Incentives and bonuses will not be paid. Open to U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S., including Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

About the role

In a Snack Bar, prepares a limited variety of short order fast food items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fish and chicken sandwiches, pizzas, French fries, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares/slices lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and other vegetables for sandwiches, salads, and pizzas.
  • Removes perishable foods from the freezer for daily activities.
  • Ensures tables/work surfaces are promptly cleared and cleaned.
  • Cleans work areas including walls, floors, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Takes delivery of supplies and ensures proper storage of shipments after delivery.
  • Accepts food orders from patrons and serves alcoholic beverages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (www.sss.gov).
  • Work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2.
  • May be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Light to heavy physical effort is required; frequently lifts and moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally up to 45 pounds.
  • Must have the mental, physical, oral, and audio ability to perform all duties safely.
  • Requires walking, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and standing for long periods.
  • May work on ladders and use power cleaning equipment.
  • Exposure to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot surfaces, and extreme temperature changes (e.g., walk-in refrigerators/freezers).
  • Risk of falling from ladders or slipping on spilled food/beverages.
  • May work indoors in kitchen/dining areas or outdoors running a food cart in various weather conditions.
  • Must complete a minimum of 4 hours of initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment, with 4 hours of refresher training annually.
  • Must meet state/local age requirements if serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Certificate of Medical Examination is required.

  • Resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.

  • Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain neat, clean, and orderly workspaces.
  • Possess basic food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation principles.
  • Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds and frequently walk, bend, stoop, pull, push, and reach.

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
