Job Description and Duties

The Food Administrator I, CF plans, organizes, and directs all food service and dietary activities in a correctional facility health care program. They work under the direction of the Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II or a Food Administrator II, CF in a large facility serving 3 meals per day to 500 or more residents. The Food Administrator I, CF collaborates with clinical personnel on nutrition assessments, needs, dietary interventions, and strategies, and plans dietary menus according to clinical instruction. They develop, interpret, and apply standards and procedures governing the food service department, plan menus, estimate food requirements, and direct the preparation and service of food in accordance with the State food control system. They inspect food facilities for compliance with sanitary, safety, and housekeeping standards and conduct In-Service Training (IST) programs for food service staff. They maintain order and supervise the conduct of inmates and protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.

Travel may be required.

Education

If using academic education above the twelfth grade to meet minimum qualifications, include a copy of your degree and/or Informal (Unofficial) School Transcripts.

Out of Class (OOC)

If using Out of Class (OOC) experience to meet minimum qualifications, attach a copy of the approved OOC Completion Memorandum certifying your OOC experience.

Desirable Qualifications

Proof of being a Registered Dietician with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association is required per California Code of Regulations, Title 22.
