Position Summary
The Provider Trainer is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who divides their time between direct patient care as a float provider and delivering EPIC training and workflow support to clinical providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in service area, in a float position, across Davidson, Davie, and Iredell Counties.
- Maintain knowledge of the organization’s electronic health record (EPIC) and related clinical software.
- Provide workflow and clinical systems training to new and existing providers to improve competence and confidence in documentation and system use.
- Plan and implement the provider training and orientation schedule.
- Develop and maintain training materials, policies, and procedures related to EHR usage.
- Collaborate with:
- Quality: to incorporate regulatory and policy training.
- Health Information Management: to integrate coding and documentation standards.
- Orientation stakeholders: to coordinate onboarding activities.
- Communicate training evaluation outcomes to the Team Lead and Medical Director.
- Provide ongoing support related to updated processes, system enhancements, and documentation requirements.
- Ensure providers maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain adherence to all minimum qualifications, required skills, and responsibilities applicable to Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant roles.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising medical doctor.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 2 years' Pediatric and Adult care experience as an APP required.
- Experience working with underserved and/or vulnerable populations.
- Understanding of confidentiality and medical ethics.
- Prior computer and EHR experience (EPIC preferred).
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of standards of medical care.
- Organized, efficient, and accurate in work processes.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and email communication.
- Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions at strategic and functional levels.
Education & Experience
- Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
- Previous Pediatric and Family Medicine experience required - 2 years minimum FQHC experience preferred.
Required Certifications & Licensures
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Active North Carolina license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting, reading, and documentation.
- Frequent short-distance walking.
- Repetitive keyboard use and limited physical activity.
- Personal vehicle travel to clinics, offices, and offsite meetings.
- Intact sight and hearing (with or without assistive devices).
