About the role

Supervises the Food Service Department, planning, implementing, directing, and controlling its activities.

Responsibilities

  • Directs Food Service staff in preparing, cooking, and distributing food according to approved menus, including menu review, meal plans, and portion control.
  • Prepares daily and monthly inventory on meat cooler and freezer items.
  • Prepares schedules of dietary positions to ensure adequate coverage with minimal overtime.
  • Plans and supervises meal preparation for special functions.
  • Works with cooks and dietary assistants in preparing meats, vegetables, sauces, and special diet foods.
  • Completes all daily reports as required.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Ensures compliance with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Ensures the use of time & temperature sheets and proper portion utensils.
  • Responsible for the use of cafeteria and kitchen equipment.
  • Prepares patient diet cards for diet changes during tray assembly.
  • Maintains harmony in the department and with coworkers by exhibiting a positive attitude, fostering teamwork, and ensuring guest relations with patients, customers, visitors, and employees.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, and/or graduate of a technical school specializing in institutional food preparation required.
  • Experience: One to two years of training with supervisory experience in a similar role.
