The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Donations received cover all overhead expenses, allowing 100% of funds to go directly towards paying essential non-medical living expenses for adult cancer patients.
Responsibilities
- Brighten up a cancer patient’s day by offering non-medical support during their treatment.
- Offer snacks or beverages to patients in the infusion area.
- Hand out warm blankets to patients.
- Share reading materials with patients.
- Talk and listen to patients.
- Wipe down infusion chairs.
- Help support nurses with re-stocking.
Requirements
- A minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week for at least six months.
- Complete a phone interview.
- Pass a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
- Be a retiree, cancer survivor, caregiver of someone with cancer, or have an interest in oncology, nursing, or medicine.
- Complete a health screening including TB testing, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemptions.
- Receive an annual influenza vaccine.
