About the Foundation
The FCS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The FCS Foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Due to the generosity of the Florida Cancer Specialists partner physicians in covering all overhead expenses for the Foundation, 100% of donations received go directly towards paying the essential non-medical living expenses of an adult battling cancer.
Role Overview
Volunteers support the mission of providing financial assistance to cancer patients in need. Ideal candidates have a passion for helping others and are comfortable speaking with patients as they apply for financial assistance. Volunteers should have strong inter-personal skills and the ability to provide at least 3 hours per week at the FCS Foundation office. Bilingual volunteers are a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Answering incoming calls and returning voicemails to assist with questions
- Completing phone applications
- Reviewing missing documents and checking application status
- Contacting patients to share approval news and/or reminders about submitting bills

Requirements
- Complete a phone interview
- Complete a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening
- Annual influenza vaccine required (August 1 through March 31)
