The Floral Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Floral Department to ensure exceptional customer service, attractive merchandising, product freshness, sales growth, profitability, and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily Floral Department operations.
  • Ensure department readiness, product availability, and execution of company programs.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe sales floor, work areas, coolers, and backroom spaces.
  • Monitor department conditions and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and foster a customer-focused environment.
  • Assist customers with floral selections, special orders, custom arrangements, and event planning needs.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Build customer relationships to encourage repeat business and community engagement.
  • Design and maintain attractive floral displays that drive sales and enhance the shopping experience.
  • Execute seasonal, holiday, promotional, and event merchandising programs.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and product presentation standards.
  • Monitor sales trends and implement strategies to achieve department goals.
  • Coordinate custom floral arrangements, bouquets, and special event orders.
  • Manage fresh floral inventory to maintain product variety and freshness.
  • Order products based on sales forecasts, seasonal demand, and promotional plans.
  • Control shrink through effective ordering, rotation, care, and inventory management practices.
  • Conduct inventory counts and maintain accurate department records.
  • Ensure all floral products meet company quality standards.
  • Monitor flower conditioning, watering, trimming, and storage procedures.
  • Remove damaged or unsellable merchandise promptly.
  • Maintain proper cooler temperatures and handling practices to extend product life.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop Floral Department employees.
  • Provide performance feedback and maintain accountability for department standards.
  • Create schedules that align labor needs with sales volume and business demands.
  • Promote teamwork, engagement, and a positive work environment.
  • Support employee growth and succession planning initiatives.
  • Manage department expenses, labor costs, and operating budgets.
  • Review department performance metrics and develop action plans for improvement.
  • Meet or exceed sales, profit, shrink, and labor targets.
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, productivity, and profitability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous floral, retail merchandising, or related experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of floral products, floral design techniques, plant care, and merchandising principles.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Basic computer and reporting skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of floral products and supplies up to company standards.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated environments.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to safely use floral tools and department equipment.
