About the Role

Floor Technicians are responsible for overall floor maintenance and care, including office spaces, general areas, restrooms, entrance ways, stairwells, and elevators. They ensure equipment is kept in proper working order and possess a good working knowledge of floor care chemicals. The typical schedule is overnight, with flexibility required based on scheduled events.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on all floor maintenance equipment (vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and general housekeeping equipment) prior to use at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Perform floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing, and burnishing on hard surfaces.
  • Provide floor maintenance, including vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
  • Report damage or areas needing further attention to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including dusting, routine restroom and building cleaning.
  • Interact professionally with building staff, clients, guests, supervisors, and corporate staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum education level: High School Diploma or its equivalency.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, supplies, equipment, implements, and devices used in cleaning a building or venue.
  • Ability to understand English and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Knowledge of the operation, use, and care of scrubbing machines, polishing and buffing machines, and general housekeeping floor equipment.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, squat, and lift approximately 30 lbs.
  • Ability to move efficiently about the venue for extended periods, including walking, riding, and climbing stairs.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work an extended and flexible schedule, including extended shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain good business relations with employees and managers in other departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a cleaning environment for a large facility or venue.
