Floor Technician

About the role

The Floor Technician will safely perform assigned floor care functions based on standards and procedures, environmental services as needed, and floor care such as waxing, stripping, buffing, and other contractual duties according to regulations.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Stop at-risk behaviors in others and self
• Work with other employees in a team to complete assignments
• Perform repetitive tasks
• Maintain clean work area
• Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules
• Take direction and respond to supervision
• Communicate professionally with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers
• Fill in during staff shortages, such as in custodial, recycle, or maintenance
• Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
• Use proper personal protective equipment required for assigned tasks
• Present a professional appearance and conduct
• Understand customer service and satisfaction
• Understand reporting systems and environmental impact
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of all floors: tile, carpet, and brick flooring
• Complete work assignments in a timely manner
• Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure
• Use and maintain equipment properly
• Operate and maintain all equipment correctly and safely
• Observe safety precautions, using safety signs such as “wet floor”
• Ability to work without normal supervision
• Report safety hazards as appropriate

Requirements

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and safely
• 6 months to 1 year of experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• May be required to have a valid driver’s license
• Complete all safety and task training certification
• May be required to be forklift certified
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share with team
• Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to sit and talk or listen
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 AM

Pay

$18.00–$19.00 per hour
