Floor Technician

About the role

The Floor Technician at Garrison Forest School is responsible for maintaining various types of floor surfaces across the campus. This position involves performing semi-skilled tasks such as vacuuming, damp mopping, sweeping, dusting, sanitizing, and collecting trash.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of state-of-the-art cleaning products, equipment, and techniques.
• Vacuum, damp mop, and sweep all floors.
• Dust and vacuum all furniture as needed.
• Spot-check and remove any visible markings on walls or furniture.
• Collect and remove all trash from assigned building and place in dumpster.
• Collect and remove all recycled materials from assigned building and place in recycle dumpster.
• Clean all mirrors daily and sanitize all fixtures and surfaces in restrooms.
• Stock all restrooms with paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, etc.
• Clean all stairwells and report any floor care problems to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Sanitize desk tops and counters in designated areas.
• Dust and wet mop all stairwells.
• Report any floor care problems to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Absorb and assist other housekeepers as required.
• Perform all duties as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Assistant Director of Plant.

Qualifications

• Able to lift 40 lbs.
• Prior experience working with various types of floor surfaces.
• Ability to communicate and work well with others.
