Floor Tech

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned projects such as stripping/waxing/refinishing of hard surface flooring, carpet shampooing/extraction, ceramic tile restorative scrubbing, and other floor/carpet maintenance.
• Work individually and in a team environment, completing other tasks as assigned.
• Respond to and initiate communication by phone, handheld radios, and pagers.
• Under the general supervision of the EVS Director/Manager/Supervisor/Lead, perform duties including floor scrubbing/stripping, refinishing, carpet shampooing, carpet extraction, cleaning floor corners/edges/baseboards, removing trash, floor buffing, floor burnishing, elevator track cleaning, upholstery cleaning, conference room setups, stairwell cleaning, and other assigned tasks.
• Perform routine cleaning of floors in a neat and sanitary manner, mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, applying floor sealers and finishes, full vacuuming, spot cleaning carpets, polishing floors, securing work areas with safety signs, reporting safety hazards, locking and unlocking doors and windows, turning off lights, and performing related work as directed.
• Ensure equipment is clean and in good operational condition.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of knowledge within acute care hospital environmental service techniques, practices, and procedures required.
• Preferred two years of Floor Tech experience in a healthcare setting.
• A High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to understand and apply common sense instructions.
• Must be able to communicate and understand English.

St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $16.60 to $23.00.
