Floor Maintenance Technician - North Campus 9am-5:30pm

About the role

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA is seeking a Housekeeping Floor/Trash Technician to join their Environmental Services department. The position works the 9am-5:30pm shift.

Responsibilities

• Strips and waxes floors as needed, following established procedures.
• Completes work assignments promptly and accurately.
• Uses appropriate cleaning chemicals and supplies as per protocol.
• Adheres to safety guidelines, including wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensures patient safety during cleaning activities, minimizing the risk of medical errors.
• Knowledgeable about cleaning chemicals used in surgical suites, dressing out appropriately before entering/leaving these areas.
• Removes surgical waste and refuse from surgical suites and PACUs, ensuring proper disposal.
• Transports trash and hazardous waste to designated disposal areas.
• Introduces oneself to patients, families, and visitors upon request.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
• No prior experience is required, but current hospital Housekeeping experience is desired.
• One to three years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Works under the supervision of Floor Supervisor and/or Department Manager, performing tasks within the scope of standard procedures.
