Floor Maintenance Technician - Main Campus 2:00pm - 10:30pm

About the role

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA is seeking a Housekeeping Floor/Trash Technician to join the Environmental Services department. The position works the 2:00pm to 10:30pm shift.

Responsibilities

• Strips and waxes floors as needed, following established procedures.
• Completes work assignments promptly and accurately.
• Uses appropriate cleaning chemicals and supplies as per protocol.
• Observes and enforces safety protocols, including wearing safety signs and maintaining WET FLOOR warnings.
• Ensures patient safety by performing tasks that minimize the risk of medical errors.
• Knowledgeable about cleaning chemicals used in surgical suites, dressing out appropriately before entering/leaving these areas, and handling both biohazard and standard refuse.
• Transports trash and hazardous waste to designated disposal areas.
• Introduces oneself to patients, families, and visitors upon arrival and departure.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
• No prior experience is required, but current hospital Housekeeping experience is desirable.
• One to three years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Works under the supervision of Floor Supervisor and/or Department Manager, analyzing situations and acting within the scope of standard procedures.
