Floor Care Technician

Job Overview Fairview is looking to hire a Floor Care Technician to join our Environmental Services team at Fairview University Hospital - East Bank in Minneapolis, MN. This is a casual position, meaning hours are scheduled on an as-needed basis, with opportunities to pick up available shifts based on department needs. This position is represented by AFSCME Local 1164. Available CASUAL Shifts Day: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PMEvening: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AMNight: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM In this role, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff by performing specialized floor care throughout the hospital. Responsibilities include stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing, and maintaining various floor surfaces, operating floor care equipment, and following established cleaning, infection prevention, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Previous experience with floor care equipment, floor waxing, and commercial or healthcare cleaning is preferred. Cleans, refinishes and maintains floors in facility. Performs project work and tasks as performed by Environmental Services Aides/Housekeeping Aides/Custodians as assigned. Maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment for patients, employees and visitors. Responsibilities Maintains hard surface and carpeted floorsUses good technique to clean and refinish hard surface floors and extraction of carpeted floorsApplies appropriate seal and finish to floorsUses appropriate equipment for the taskProperly uses caution signs and controls trafficProperly cleans upholstered surfacesMoves furnitureWorks in cooperative courteous manner with others to accomplish resultsPerforms cleaning assignments per department procedures and protocolsUses proper chemical dilution rationsFollows infection control practices and proceduresFollows proper procedure for assigned areaCompletes assignments in a timely mannerUses proper equipment and supplies for taskReplenishes suppliesProperly handles soiled and clean linens in assigned areasProperly handles and disposes of wasteUses safe work practices i.e. floor signs, use of gloves, follow hazard signs/symbolsRemains flexible to change assignments as neededContributes process improvement ideas/suggestionsProperly documents work assignmentsDemonstrates proper emergency and security responseTakes immediate action as required to assist with emergency codesUnlocks and secures access to building as directedCleans emergency spills as neededDemonstrates proper use and care of equipmentUses proper equipment for assignment/taskProperly cares for equipment and takes action for preventive maintenanceReports malfunctioning equipmentUses safety precautions Required Qualifications SC Johnson’s Professional 2000 Series class certification and competency assessment within 60 Days Preferred Qualifications High School diploma/GEDPrevious Housekeeping/Environmental Service experience.Floor care training and experience.
