Floater

About the role

We are a key global provider of sustainable packaging solutions on a mission to make all packaging recyclable, reusable, or compostable. This floater position provides breaks to machine operators and inspector/packers while maintaining cleanliness in the Finishing Department.

Responsibilities

• Observe all Huhtamaki safety rules and use safe working methods to avoid injury or damage.
• Provide work breaks for inspector/packers and gluer operators.
• Operate a stretch wrap machine and stage finished goods in the warehouse.
• Operate case sealer.
• Keep WIP (Work In Progress) pushed up to gluer and nester machines in the Finishing Department.
• Sweep and clean work area.
• Operate forklift as needed.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, lead persons, and operators regarding safety, quality, and production.
• Follow SQF and food safety regulations at all times.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must successfully complete a forklift driving test.
• Physically capable of moderate to light physical effort, including frequently lifting light to average weight.
• Work shift work of 40 hours per week, with overtime possible.
• Frequently lift 35 pounds over 70% of the work shift.
• Occasional to frequent bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
• Frequent neck and trunk extension when reaching above shoulders and handling tools overhead.
• Continuous mental and visual attention when performing work activities.
• Must use PPE, including ear plugs or muffs, hair net, safety glasses, and steel toe or composite toe shoes.
• Must safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently on a frequent basis; loads exceeding 50 pounds require assistance or mechanical lifting equipment.
• Moderate to heavy physical effort, including frequent lifting, carrying, standing, walking, bending, and reaching during an 8-12 hour shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of manufacturing experience preferred.
