About the role

Hexcel, a global leader in advanced lightweight composite materials, is seeking a Floater Operator for its Pottsville, PA location. The role provides flexible machine‑operation support across the plant, primarily in the front‑end processes such as HOBE Saw, Expanding, Femco Saw, and Trim Saw, while maintaining accurate inventory and adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and machine operations to cover absences and demand fluctuations in any plant area.
• Operate front‑end equipment including HOBE Saw, Expanding, Femco Saw, and Trim Saw.
• Work from production orders and maintain accurate inventory of HOBE material.
• Follow routings and use measuring tools to determine the length and width of expanded honeycomb.
• Apply proper handling techniques and follow the clean‑glove handling policy.
• Maintain accurate inventory of Nomex material.
• Use micrometer, dial caliper, or Vernier caliper for precise measurements.
• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Support team efforts and product processes by performing tasks required by customer specifications, team consensus, or production supervisor direction.
• Operate in compliance with Hexcel Pottsville’s Actively Caring Safety Program and Quality Management System.
• Adhere to Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent (required).
• Minimum six months of manufacturing experience (preferred).
• Ability to follow all safety guidelines and proper handling techniques.
• Experience with handheld scanners and interaction with MRP or inventory control systems (preferred).
• Active Quality Delegate status or ability to meet Quality Delegate requirements.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Good hand dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.
• Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (required).
• Effective communication and ability to work well with all organizational levels.
• Eligibility to work in the United States: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, refugee, or asylee.
