About the Role

Under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, you will expedite daily nursing responsibilities including administering and dispensing medication, patient assessments, intake/admissions, documentation, and other clinical functions to enhance the overall treatment of patients at Root Center for Advanced Recovery. You will maintain all record keeping and contribute to the overall care of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense medication; administer and dispense medication as prescribed by the prescriber and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Handle intake/admissions; work with the clinic provider to complete admission and annual physicals. Obtain and record patient vitals, collect laboratory specimens (including phlebotomy), and complete other assigned tasks within scope of practice.
  • Perform assessments and specimen collection; complete direct observation of clients prior to dosing, including general physical presentation and mental status to confirm the patient is appropriate to receive the daily oral dose. Collect urinalysis specimens and other samples, view lab results, and inform supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Provide counseling in health-related areas, including but not limited to prenatal care, child and nutritional care, and general hygiene.
  • Report changes in patient condition to the provider and/or clinic supervisor.
  • Maintain record keeping and documentation; clearly and completely document services provided, the patient’s response, and any change in condition noted.

Requirements

  • Current active license in the State of Connecticut as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least one year of nursing experience and demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with patients within the scope of this rehabilitation program.
  • BSN license preferred.
  • Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) preferred or Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing (or actively pursuing credentialing) is preferred.
  • Adult CPR/AED certification is preferred.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $38.46. Actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications.
