Float Pool Surgical Tech - Seasonal PRN

Temporary Surgical Tech position for a seasonal commitment (October 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026) with a minimum requirement of 24 hours per week (3 shifts). Seasonal staff may be asked to float to another center within the same division/market based on staffing needs and are subject to first call-off. Current HCA/SVG employees are not eligible to transfer into the seasonal program.

About the Role

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech contributes to safe and effective nursing care in the operating room by assisting with direct patient care, scrubbing and assisting the surgeon, turning over surgical rooms between cases, recording clinical data, and collaborating with the Registered Nurse in clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role of the surgical technician in accordance with Association of Surgical Technologists
• Assist in preparing the operative suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments
• Ensure surgical asepsis is maintained in the handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings
• Assist in the turnover of O.R. suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning equipment and environmental surfaces
• Prepare procedure rooms for the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, accurately "pulling cases," and reporting needed items to the supervisor

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (required per facility practice and state regulatory requirement; otherwise preferred)
• One year of experience in an operating room setting (preferably in an ambulatory surgery center)
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable)

Pay

$40 seasonal rate.

HCA’s Surgery Ventures Float Pool supports the MidAmerica Market by providing patient care among 8 ambulatory surgery centers in the Kansas City Metro. Staff members are trained to work in any of the 8 facilities and report directly to a facility for patient care that day. Seasonal Surgical Techs have priority over future FT/PT/PRN positions after the seasonal program ends.
