About the role

As a Certified Patient Care Assistant (PCA/CNA) you will float to all three Northern Colorado locations: Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO, Banner Fort Collins Medical Center, and Banner North Colorado Medical Center – Loveland Campus. You will provide routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for ongoing patient data collection, documentation in medical records, and a variety of unit support functions that contribute to the efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and nutritional intake.
  • Collects patient specimens and data, such as vital signs, input/output, and other delegated measurements.
  • Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care in medical records.
  • Assists in the transportation of patient specimens and ensures accurate communication of patient status to other caregivers.
  • Recognizes and reports abnormalities or changes in patient health status to licensed professionals.
  • Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, including blood draws, foley catheter removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring.
  • Provides supplies, support, and assistance for unit-specific procedures under direct supervision.
  • Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support operational efficiency and communication flow.
  • Participates in resolving customer problems or escalates issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains complete and accurate patient records, including admission, transfer, and discharge information.
  • Ensures all reports and forms are scanned or filed into patient records and maintains accessibility of necessary forms.
  • Manages and orders office, dietary, and medical supplies, reconciling orders upon delivery.
  • Monitors and tracks electronic equipment, ensuring all items are accounted for and in working order.
  • May assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and post-operative patients to critical care units.
  • Participates in OR room turnover.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice (required for new hires and transfers).
  • Skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior customer service experience.
  • Excellent organizational, human relations, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy, including keyboarding skills.
  • Depending on department assignment, must achieve a minimum passing score of 85% on ECG or EEG test with accurate identification of lethal cardiac dysrhythmias and epileptiform activity.
  • Successful completion of a unit-approved basic electrocardiogram interpretation course, electroencephalographic interpretation course, or on-the-job training.
  • For positions in behavioral health settings serving children: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and signed Arizona Criminal History Affidavit.
  • For Banner Home Care AZ: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure in Arizona (preferred).
  • Recent healthcare experience.
  • Successful completion of an approved unit secretary program.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 36 hours per week.
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM).
  • Weekend rotations required; enjoy a flat rate $1.50/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.

Pay

Estimated pay range: $17.67 - $26.50 per hour. Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. Actual pay is determined at offer based on relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity.
