About the role

LifeMed Alaska’s Flight Paramedics provide direct patient care to patients with complex and involved care needs outside the hospital setting. They operate in fixed wing aircraft, ground ambulance, and helicopter environments. The role requires maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and organized environment while demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary for age-appropriate care.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in various aircraft types and ground settings
• Implement care according to written treatment protocols, medical control guidelines, and clinical judgment
• Partner with Flight Nurses to care for patients with a wide range of conditions
• Contribute to improving quality of care and increasing efficiency through participation in committees and sharing ideas
• Influence processes, internal communication systems, and other aspects of the business to support LifeMed Alaska's continued success

Requirements

• Minimum three (3) years’ Paramedic experience, preferably in a progressive 911 emergency response system with high acuity patient volume
• Two (2) years critical care experience highly preferred
• Previous flight experience desired
• Licensure: Current State of Alaska MICP within 90 days of hire; NREMT-P required to obtain MICP, and will be verified upon hire; Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Current and valid Drivers License and Passport required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be completed within 3 months of hire; approved trauma course within 12 months of hire; successful completion of the Alaska State Medevac Course during orientation; must test for FC-P within 6 months of hire and obtain FC-P within 12 months of hire
• Mastery in the use of monitoring and treatment equipment, including cardiac monitor/pacer/defibrillator, IVAC IV pumps, I-Stat portable blood gas analyzers, transport ventilators, etc.
• Maintain skills such as endotracheal intubation, needle thoracotomy, chest tube placement, 12-lead EKG interpretation, and multiple IV drip administration
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment
• Maintain ability to pass repeat background checks and possess an identification badge issued by the base location airport security
