Flight Nurse - Per Diem
About the Role
Under the supervisor, the ideal incumbent will perform duties associated with providing emergency medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies. We are located at 1065 Bucks Lake Road, Quincy, CA 95971. You may be scheduled to work in either Lassen or Plumas County.
Responsibilities
- Responding to emergencies efficiently and promptly.
- Administering basic, advanced, and critical care life support to patients at the scene, transferring facility, en route to the receiving hospital, and in a pre-hospital setting, in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards, and Company policies and guidelines.
- Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
- Effectively communicating with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and/or arrange reception of patients to the appropriate center.
- Maintaining order at scenes and requesting facilities.
Requirements
- Three (3) years full-time critical care and/or emergency nursing experience.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Experience in flight medicine, EMS, and public education (field or classroom-based) is preferred.
Qualifications
- Maintain current California RN licensure.
- Maintain required annual continuing medical education credits as set forth by the California Board of Nursing.
- Valid driver's license.
- Nevada RN and EMS-RN licensure within two (2) months of hire.
- ACLS, BCLS, PALS certifications.
- Hazardous Materials R & I (after hire).
- Advanced trauma course (ITLS, PHTLS, or TPATC) and SREMS advanced skills training within two (2) months of hire.
- CFRN certification within eighteen (18) months of hire.
- NRP certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Other certifications as required.
Skills
- Advanced Physiology & Pathophysiology: Understanding of how altitude, pressure changes, and flight stressors affect critically ill or injured patients.
- Critical Care Pharmacology: In-depth knowledge of vasoactive drugs, paralytics, sedatives, and mechanical ventilation protocols.
- Aviation Safety & Operations: Understanding of FAA regulations, aircraft weight/balance limitations, and survival/safety protocols.
- Trauma & Resuscitation: Mastery of advanced life support.
- Advanced Airway & Surgical Interventions: Proficiency in endotracheal intubation, needle/surgical cricothyrotomy, and mechanical ventilator management.
Pay
Base Rate: $45.82-$66.89 per hour. Starting pay is determined using our clinical pay scales, which feature 13 steps recognizing up to 30 years of relevant experience. Eligible employees may also receive shift differential and holiday pay.
