Essential Functions

  • Receives incoming patient transport requests in a hospital or pre-hospital setting.
  • Captures accurate and complete transport documentation.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates safe and efficient transport, adhering to all relevant guidelines and protocols.
  • Facilitates positive relationships with referring and receiving facilities to ensure a safe, coordinated, and expeditious response for emergency services.
  • Ensures accuracy and completion of transport documentation.
  • Participates in continuing education and required certification.
  • Participates in system-wide quality improvement efforts to continuously review, evaluate, and revise processes for continued improvement.
  • Utilizes understanding of medical equipment used and its limitations in a ground transport setting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated dispatch experience with 911 (Public Safety), EMS agency, or HUC (Health Unit Coordinator).
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Typing speed (minimum 40 wpm).
  • One year dispatch experience with 911 (Public Safety), EMS agency, HUC (Health Unit Coordinator), or other experience in a hospital environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a clinical setting (MA, CNA, Technician, EMT or Paramedic).
  • Ability to perform complex tasks, prioritize multiple requests, and manage patient transport in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Broad knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Previous experience with FAA, (Federal Aviation), FCC, (Federal Communication Commission), CAMTS, (Commission Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems), regulations and requirements in a medical transport communications center environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employees to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients, clients and visitors require employees to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$22.39 - $34.06
