About the role
Set up and operate the printing press to produce labels and related products. This onsite position includes training and the opportunity to learn a valuable skilled trade in the printing industry with unlimited growth potential.
Responsibilities
- Read job order and load dies into press.
- Install print cylinder on shaft and in press.
- Fill ink pans, screens, and pumps with prescribed inks.
- Start press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary.
- Engage print cylinders; adjust printing impression as needed, place print cylinders lead-to-lead, and run down approval strip.
- Cut sample of approval strip from printed roll and inspect for imperfections such as print-to-print or print-to-die out of register, missing impression, ink starvation, or color issues; make adjustments as necessary.
- Clean plates, print cylinders, and dies as needed; perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.
- Mix inks to produce and maintain desired colors and viscosity.
- Keep work areas clear and organized; maintain housekeeping standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of one year of flexographic printing press experience preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be able to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices.
- Regularly required to stand and frequently required to walk.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Pay
$25.00–$31.00 an hour
