About the role
The BestCare Treatment Services is seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse to join their Withdrawal Management team in Klamath Falls, Oregon. This role is critical in providing safe, evidence-based medical care to individuals undergoing detoxification and stabilization in a structured treatment environment.
Responsibilities
- Works closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide excellent patient care with improved outcomes for clients;
- Takes vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature and CWAA scores;
- Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements;
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and support patients, family, and friends;
- Gives injections of medications; immunizations as prescribed by Program and Medical Director;
- Promotes patients’ independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients, family and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions about drug and alcohol addiction;
- Affirms quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following detox and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care set by the state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and OAR’s for detox programs;
- Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies;
- Ensures a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and procedures, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations;
- Documents client progress in electronic health record (EHR) system to maintain a pertinent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures;
- Participates in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings;
- Takes a lead role or participates in providing medication administration and medical services;
- Other related duties as assigned.

Required Competencies
- Strong client engagement skills;
- High level of ability and comfort providing extensive outreach and community-based nursing care in a multitude of settings;
- Ability in nursing assessment including evaluation and interpretation of medical and behavioral health information;
- Knowledge and ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with Oregon OSHA, BestCare Treatment Services Policies and Procedures, Oregon Administrative Rules, and the RN Scope of Practice;
- Proven success in collaborating with co-workers and a multi-disciplinary team to provide and advocate for excellent patient care;
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), EHR systems, databases, virtual meeting platforms, internet, and ability to learn new or updated software;
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and demonstrated compassion towards individuals with mental illness and substance abuse disorders;
- Strong communication skills (oral and written);
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through;
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines;

Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Practical Nurse degree;
- Experience working with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders;
- For individuals recovering from the disease of addiction, must have maintained continuous sobriety for the previous two years at the time of hire;
- Nurse II (MS6 pay grade): Associate’s Degree in Nursing (RN) or
- Nurse III (MS7A pay grade): BS Degree in Nursing;
- Experience working with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders, and/or community health services;
- For individuals in recovery from substance-use disorder, must have maintained continuous recovery for the previous two years at the time of hire;
- Availability for a variable schedule;
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Current and unrestricted Oregon License as Practical Nurse (LPN);
- Current Oregon Registered Nurse license for Nurse II (associate's degree) or
- Current Oregon Registered Nurse license for Nurse III (BSN);
- Current BLS + First Aid/AED certifications;
- Must maintain a valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one upon hire, and be insurable under the organization’s auto liability coverage policy (minimum 21 years of age and with no Type A violations in the past 3 years, or three (3) or more Type B violations).
