About the role

Step into a critical role that keeps our fleet running strong as a Diesel Fleet Technician. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Collaborate closely with team members and customers, perform daily safety inspections, and deliver high-quality repairs with a focus on timeliness and precision. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft, values safety and organization, and enjoys being a key contributor to operations.

Responsibilities

  • Complete safety training and annual technical training as determined by fleet manager.
  • Operate equipment to verify proper operation; identify problems and causes of failure through logical troubleshooting and determine corrective action by inspecting failed parts.
  • Utilize shop computer for diagnosis of equipment for Mack, Volvo, International, Hendrickson, and other OEM suppliers as needed.
  • Use applicable software and pass ongoing online training.
  • Maintain an appropriate mechanical tool set.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations; use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Ensure work orders are properly completed, with accurate repair task descriptions.
  • Safely move vehicles between job and work area.
  • Follow specific instructions and respond to requests from others.
  • Proficiently remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components.
  • Perform road calls and emergency services in all weather conditions.
  • Select appropriate course of action for repairs.
  • Evaluate completed work prior to release.
  • Train and lead other technicians in completing repair assignments.

The above duties define minimum activities but may be altered to suit the company’s needs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and meeting PM schedules and operating repair shop equipment.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; ability to build solid relationships at all levels.
  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one-year technical training at an accredited technical school.
  • CDL A preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and lifting of light and heavy objects.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands or arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.
  • Must be able to lay on back on a mechanic’s dolly to work underneath motor vehicle equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be free of any conditions resulting in temporary loss of consciousness or ability to reason.

Work is performed with exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors, gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust, and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices.

Pay

Target wage of $21.00 - $35.50 per hour, based on shift, experience, and qualifications. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Overtime may be available.

Schedule

Wednesday through Saturday, 5:30pm–4:00am.
