About the role
Clarke Vehicare is seeking a Fleet Diesel Mechanic to maintain our commitment to safety and customer service. In this role, you will perform heavy-duty truck and automotive repairs and maintenance according to factory and industry standards, including diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair a dedicated fleet of vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, trailers, material handling equipment (MHE), and automobiles.
- Perform preventative maintenance, engine repairs, brake repairs, A/C service, and computer diagnostics.
- Fabricate and weld steel and aluminum components.
- Use laptops, tablets, or smartphones for record-keeping and diagnostics.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ensure quality workmanship and adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Provide own standard technician tools; large shop tools are provided.
Physical and Safety Requirements
- Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting required.
- Regular use of hands to touch, handle, and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally with assistance.
- Read and write reports.
- Implement and enforce health and safety rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and prescribed instructions.
Requirements
- Certificate or degree from a college or technical school with 2-4 years of related diesel repair experience, OR equivalent combination of training and experience.
- ASE certifications are a plus.
- NYS Inspector License or ability to acquire one.
- Valid driver’s license with no more than 2 moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the last 3 years.
- No drug or alcohol-related convictions on driving record in the past 5 years (e.g., DUI/DWI).
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.
