About the Role
Responsible for the repair, maintenance, installation, and overhaul of all PVSC vehicles and associated equipment.
Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain, install, and overhaul gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and related equipment.
- Perform auto body maintenance and follow garage practices.
- Read, understand, and use automotive repair manuals and pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.
- Adhere to safety precautions during mechanical and auto body repair tasks.
- Respond to emergencies and job assignments on a 24-hour basis.
- Work in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system, both indoors and outdoors.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience with automotive equipment repair in a shop with a modern preventive maintenance and inventory control program.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required; advanced training from an accredited technical or trade school preferred.
- Valid N.J. driver's license with a minimum CDL Class B endorsement (Class A preferred).
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform physical activities including climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping, and handling heavy objects.
- Ability to work in confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (e.g., canister and dust masks, SCBA).

Pay
The expected base pay range for this position is $79,643 to $99,704. The specific salary offered may be influenced by the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
