Fleet Mechanic III

This is a full-time, non-exempt, onsite position reporting to the Bivio Supervisor. Travel requirements are based on business needs (7-10%).

About the role

The Fleet Mechanic III is responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operating capabilities of the BIVIO transportation fleet. This includes performing and overseeing inspections, routine maintenance, repairs, and record keeping. The role also involves providing training and guidance to Fleet Mechanics I & II, with minimal supervision required.

Responsibilities

• Follow company safety practices and procedures.
• Perform BIT inspections and preventative maintenance services.
• Adhere to company policies and all federal, state, OSHA, CALOSHA, DOT, EPP, DMV, and CHP laws and regulations.
• Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair systems and components of fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct truck/tractor/trailer maintenance and safety inspections.
• Perform repairs by adjusting or replacing defective components, using sound judgment to determine repair needs.
• Perform repairs in accordance with manufacturer and department specifications.
• Track, document, and maintain maintenance records, recalls, smog inspections, and warranties.
• Apply for purchase requisitions/POs in IFS for parts and repairs.
• Document and maintain a vehicle status log, coordinating with fleet operational supervisors.
• Maintain an inventory of replacement parts, lubricants, fluids, tools, and supplies.
• Perform roadside service calls and coordinate with tow truck services.
• Shuttle vehicles to and from onsite and offsite locations.
• Deliver and pick up parts and/or rental vehicles from offsite facilities.
• Provide training, guidance, and oversight for Fleet Mechanics I & II.
• Dispose of failed parts, fluids, and wastes in accordance with company policies.
• Keep shop tools and equipment clean and orderly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision or management.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• 4 years of journey-level Mechanic experience with medium to heavy gas and diesel vehicles.
• 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification for medium-heavy truck diesel engines (T2) is desirable.
• California Class A commercial driver license (airbrake, manual transmission, tanker).
• Knowledge of methods, practices, materials, and tools of the trade.
• Familiarity with outside repair agencies capable of repairing fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Understanding of principles and practices of gasoline and diesel repair and maintenance.
• Office and computer skills: filing, scanning, copying, etc.
• Ability to speak and write in English.
• Ability to work various shifts and comprehend/follow orders.
• Ability to supervise and train subordinate staff.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Climbing in and out of truck cabs, cargo bays, and tanker ladders.
• Standing, bending, twisting, walking, and sitting.

Work Environment

• Indoor and outdoor environments.
• Personal protective equipment required: safety glasses, safety vest, proper footwear; head/ear protection in production areas.

Pay

$24.45/HR - $34.80/HR
