Position Summary
Diesel and Gas Truck/Tractor and forklift mechanic providing maintenance for MEI fleet of Ford and Dodge service trucks (both gas and diesel 250 thru 450), forklifts (up to Versa Lift 100/1400k), various make/models of tractors and flatbed trailers including: Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Ideal candidate can do mid-level mechanic work on gas and diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service and hydraulic systems.
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing as needed procedures.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for extensive and complex repairs.
- Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two to five years proven fleet mechanic experience preferred.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Excellent attention to details, thoroughness, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)
- Class A CDL license preferred.
- Hydraulic equipment experiences preferred.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to climb, stand; walk; sit; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to adjust straps, move equipment and perform daily duties; reach with hands and arms; push feet to operate crane; pull handles and grasp equipment; talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The Fleet Mechanic is subject to possible exposure to extreme year-round outdoor environmental conditions and may also be subject to working weekends and holidays.
