Fleet Mechanic

Duties/Responsibilities

• Use the fleet management software Fleetio to keep track of the maintenance of fleet in shop.
• Responsible for diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical trouble shooting and repairs, steering, chassis, cooling systems of the company’s fleet.
• Responsible for repairs and maintenance on aerial devices, cranes, dozers, and other industry specific equipment.
• Perform planned maintenance and inspections on vehicles timely.
• Operate and test repaired equipment and confirm that specifications are met.
• Diagnose equipment for repairs through regular inspections of equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of repair performed on vehicles.
• Responsible for manual labor, including the use of tools required for mounting toolboxes, license plates, GPS units, registration stickers, toll tags, etc.
• Maintain knowledge of all FMCSA, DOT, and the State of Texas regulations to comply with all state and federal laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor in a professional and efficient manner.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED; technical automotive trade certification preferred.
• 5+ years of direct experience as a mechanic.
• 2+ years wire and stick welding; preferred.
• Must be able to pass background check and drug test.
• Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
• Required Commercial Driving License (CDL)
• Familiar with part vendors; preferred

Special Requirements

• Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time required.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
