Responsibilities
- Maintain fleet equipment and ensure all over-the-road equipment is legal, safe, and roadworthy.
- Track all jobs and labor hours using a work order system.
- Operate within the Fleet R&M budget and optimize performance.
- Flexibly work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required.
- Communicate unsafe conditions, acts, or injuries to the Plant Manager.
- Practice proper forklift operation and perform minor engine repairs.
- Maintain the Fleet Maintenance Shop and manage operating supplies.
- Schedule and monitor outside vendor work and manage tire programs.
- Ensure PM schedule compliance and manage R&M costs (fleet and forklift).
- Build and maintain job skills through company and outside training programs.
- Accountability for all department man-hours and fork lift repair and preventive maintenance.
Job Skills
- Certified welder
- Organizational and task prioritization skills
- Certified in brake adjustments
- Strong time management skills
- Possess current CDL license
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair abilities
- Familiarity with DOT operating procedures and requirements
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Vocational School / industry training
- ASE Certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Lift and move heavy items repeatedly lifting up to 75 pounds to a height of 6 feet
- Stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours
- Work in temperature extremes
- Handle materials daily
Qualifications
- Full range of body motion on a daily basis including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, and ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles
