Role Overview
Responsible for managing equipment maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, liftgates, yard trucks, and refrigeration units to ensure safe and efficient fleet operations. Ensures compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company policies while supporting department goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise fleet repair mechanics, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met; manage work orders to minimize downtime; handle vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and hazardous waste spills.
- Oversee the repair facility's sanitation and condition, manage budgets, and process claims in collaboration with senior analysts.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Conduct safety audits, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee preventive maintenance.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members; support diversity and inclusion initiatives; assist with training and parts inventory management; maintain vendor relationships.
Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of industry safety standards for commercial vehicles.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and fleet management software.
- Ability to develop mechanic skills and identify improvement opportunities.
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least five years of fleet maintenance experience, including refrigeration units; refrigerant handling and transport experience preferred.
Work Conditions
- Ability to work in extreme weather, noisy environments, and confined spaces.
- Must be able to walk long distances, sit, stand, bend, and perform repairs in various positions.
- Support operational needs as required.
