As the specialty hauler for High Industries and a trusted partner throughout the Mid-Atlantic, we handle every detail—from routing and permitting to escorting and delivery. Our Fleet Maintenance Supervisor ensures our fleet and supported SBUs' equipment remain safe, efficient, and operational, backed by a safety-first culture and in-house expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate planned and emergent maintenance and repairs for the High Transit fleet and supported SBUs.
  • Ensure compliance with the preventive maintenance program and assign mechanics/labor based on production demands.
  • Maintain direct reports’ timecards and adjust flex labor as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues, including diagnostics for complex matters and road-testing vehicles when necessary.
  • Oversee the maintenance shop inventory control system to maintain necessary equipment and parts levels within budget.
  • Review and approve expenses within scope; escalate larger expenses or major repairs to the Fleet Maintenance Manager.
  • Establish and update preventive maintenance requirements and frequency in the SAP Maintenance system.
  • Provide input on new equipment justifications and selection to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Support the Asset Manager with capital plan development and equipment replacement prioritization.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems for on-site and on-road repairs.
  • Provide input on manpower planning, including skill levels, expertise, and forecasted demand.
  • Manage coworker performance through coaching, feedback, performance evaluations, training plans, and corrective actions.
  • Promote a safety-aware culture in the Fleet Maintenance department, ensuring compliance with corporate safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain and submit records and reports, including time sheets, out-of-service lists, work pending lists, parts and labor usage, and training checklists.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements, including transitioning paper-based workflows to digital tools.
  • Work with the Fleet Maintenance Manager to evaluate month-end maintenance metrics and ensure cost controls are in place.
  • Attend meetings, training seminars, and perform other duties as requested to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus coursework in auto and/or equipment mechanics from a trade school.
  • Three (3) years’ experience as a lead mechanic or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Documents, and SAP applications.

Qualifications

  • PA Class 7 State Inspection license (required to retain PA inspection station).
  • Federal Inspection certificate.
  • Federal Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A.
  • Air brake certification.
  • E.P.A. refrigerant purchase and handling certificate.

Scope

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor oversees 10–15 full-time technicians across multiple shifts and several part-time coworkers, managing the maintenance of 1,000+ High Company-owned assets.

Reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager in consultation with the Fleet Maintenance Superintendent and leads Fleet Maintenance personnel to achieve business objectives.
