About the role
This traveling position aims to enhance fleet efficiency through training, guidance, addressing safety questions and concerns, and vehicle inspections for proper maintenance and utilization. It interacts with field personnel and serves as a liaison to communicate issues, concerns, and observations to other departments within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Inspects and reports deficiencies associated with Company-owned vehicles and equipment to set standards.
- Cleans and observes scheduled/mileage/hour driven maintenance.
- Reports issues to Fleet and/or Service departments or specific mechanics as appropriate.
- Observes for unreported damages.
- Verifies DOT inspection and required certifications.
- Ensures registration, licensing, and insurance documentation is up-to-date.
- Trains drivers/supervisors on proper maintenance requirements.
- Reconciles and updates equipment tracker information.
- Identifies and reports opportunities for improved equipment utilization.
- Verifies and reports transport readiness.
- Delivers documentation, license plates, small equipment, etc., to job sites.
- Affords assistance in planning equipment audits and participating in audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of DOT equipment requirements.
- Ability to identify equipment types and sizes used in the telecommunications industry.
- Ability to recognize symptoms of lack of appropriate vehicle and/or construction equipment service.
- Commitment to compliance with and communication of service needs.
- Effective and respectful written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving and logical thinking abilities.
- Team-oriented, keeping organizational needs at the forefront.
- Familiarity with Google-based applications.
- Proficient use of computer hardware and software.
- Understanding and use of basic arithmetic.
- Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends.
- Maintains current DOT health card.
- Valid driver’s license with a favorable driving record, Class A preferred.
