About the role
This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles operated by Xcel Energy Corp. This person will be working out of the Amarillo Transportation Center location. This includes preventive maintenance, minor and major repairs of cars, trucks, aerial devices, construction equipment and other types of equipment operated by the company. This position is a Monday-Friday shift. Candidate must reside within 20 miles of the Amarillo Transportation Center.
Responsibilities
- Preventive maintenance of fleet vehicles
- Minor and major repairs of cars, trucks, aerial devices, construction equipment and other types of equipment
- Respond to after-hour emergency work, callouts and overtime as assigned
- Lift up to 50 lbs and work from elevated heights and off ladders
- Work independently and demonstrate safety awareness
Requirements
- Fleet Mechanic A:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 4 years of experience in automotive and/or truck maintenance and repair field
- Minimum 8 ASE certifications or equivalent
- Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and DOT medical card
- Self-motivated and capable of working alone
- Fleet Mechanic B:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical, vocational, or trade school diploma, or degree in automotive truck and/or heavy equipment service repair and maintenance
- Minimum 2 years of continuous work history in the automotive/truck field
- FMCSR Parts 382 and 391 compliance, CDL Class A or ability to obtain within 3 months
- 6 current ASE Automotive or Truck certifications or 6 equivalent certifications
- Ability to read and understand English, perform basic math, and use basic computer skills
- Furnish standard and metric tools in accordance with the fleet department's required tool list
- Demonstrate safety awareness
- Fleet Mechanic C:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the automotive/truck field
- FMCSR Parts 382 and 391 compliance, CDL Class A or ability to obtain within 3 months
- Ability to read and understand English, perform basic math, and use basic computer skills
- Furnish standard and metric tools in accordance with the fleet department's required tool list
- Demonstrate safety awareness
Qualifications
- Must reside within 20 miles of the Amarillo Transportation Center
- Must have a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and DOT medical card
- Must have the fitness and ability to lift 50 lbs and work from elevated heights and off ladders
- Must be self-motivated and capable of working alone
- Must have the ability to read and understand the English language, perform basic mathematics, and possess basic computer skills
- Must furnish standard and metric tools in accordance with the fleet department's required tool list
- Must have a high level of safety awareness with a demonstrated commitment to working safely at all times

Pay
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $24.56 to $43.33 per hour
