Fleet Apprentice Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses/identifies vehicle and equipment malfunctions and determines corrective actions.
• Tests vehicles and equipment after repairs.
• Verifies completion of repairs to ensure quality service.
• Repairs brakes, exhausts and related components.
• Tunes engines.
• Performs routine repairs to automobiles and trucks.
• Assists in more difficult repairs or repairs to heavy equipment.
• Repairs or overhauls engines, transmissions, gear trains, differentials, steering/brake/clutch/electrical systems, power takeoffs, hydraulic and pneumatic lifts and controls and related components.
• Performs vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Brazes or welds sheet metal and various equipment components.
• Performs state inspections, routine and preventive maintenance.
• Completes job or shift report form.
• Performs electronic data entry of vehicle and equipment repair information.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Vocational/Technical School that is eligible to participate in a Co-op program.
• Must be able to move objects weighing up to 80 Ibs.
• Must possess valid driver's license.
