Position Description
The City of Walnut Creek is seeking an Audience Services Manager for the Performing Arts Division. This position oversees operations and staff for the ticket office, usher, catering, and bar services for all theatre productions and events.
Representative Duties
- Covering operations of the ticket office
- Reviewing ticket office procedures and forms, and providing recommendations to improve efficiency
- Selecting, training, and establishing work schedules for regular, part-time, contractual and volunteer staff
- Supervising House Manager staff, supervising usher staff for each event
- Managing concession operations and related staff
- Advising and assisting theatre users in their use of the facility and collaborating with other LCA staff to ensure optimum client and patron theatre experience
- Assisting in the formulation and implementation of department goals, policies, and objectives
- Assisting in the preparation and control of assigned program budget
- Developing joint activities with other department divisions, city departments, and community-related commissions
Qualifications Guidelines
- Education and Experience: Educational achievement equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by college level work in theatre production or related field, and considerable (three to four years) experience in theatre production, public arts facility operation and maintenance, or a related field; or any combination of training and experience that would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to schedule, monitor and evaluate staff;
- Develop, organize, coordinate, and evaluate programs and activities;
- Develop and administer program budgets;
- Work effectively with a variety of people including volunteers, program participants, outside agencies, citizen groups, contractors, public officials, City management;
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, theatre or event management software, and Access database experience a plus.
